The economy of the Perm Region has almost doubled in five years.

The volume of the gross regional product (GRP) of the Perm Region has almost doubled since 2020. Vladimir Putin said this on March 10 at a meeting with its governor Dmitry Makhonin. In 2024, the growth was 12%. The standard of living is also rising. The Perm Region ranks third in terms of the rate of resettlement of emergency housing. At the same time, the president nevertheless drew attention to the shortcomings in the social block: in particular, over 25% of schoolchildren in the region are still studying in the second shift.

What was discussed at the meeting

The President noted good indicators in terms of the volume of the domestic regional product: it has almost doubled in five years. The governor clarified that GRP increased by 12% in 2024, and investments in fixed assets increased. Dmitry Makhonin added that the index of industrial production over the past year was 5.5%, the index of manufacturing industries was 108.5%. "Good indicators," the head of state assessed.

We discussed the fate of dilapidated and dilapidated housing. Vladimir Putin noted that the Perm Region ranks third in terms of the rate of settlement of the "accident". In five years, 800 thousand square meters were settled, and about 80 thousand Permians improved their living conditions. In total, 8.2 million square meters have been commissioned in the region since 2020. m housing. "Our pace is not bad, but we still have a place to settle. We understand that this is the task of the next five years," said the head of the region.

The region ranks second in the Volga Federal District in terms of birth rate. 300 thousand families live in the region, 40 thousand of which have many children. Moreover, every third child is born in a large family. Currently, about 140,000 families in the Perm Region are receiving support measures.

At the same time, the Perm Region is a leader in the quality of school education, and the region is also breaking records in terms of the pace of construction of relevant facilities. "But still, over 25% of schoolchildren go to the second shift," the president noted. The authorities are currently working to reduce the number of children who study in the afternoon: 36 schools have been built over the past year, and 30 more are expected in the next five years.

Close attention is also being paid to healthcare. In the next five years, 20 facilities will be built in the region. In the Perm Region, it was possible to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases by more than 20% and from cancer by more than 10%. The President urged not to forget about the fight against HIV. "We are additionally funding a program for the treatment of a socially important disease, hepatitis C, and we expect to deal with this issue in three years and make the region free of this disease. And HIV is the same thing, of course," the governor of the region emphasized.
