"I'm impulsive, otherwise I wouldn't have risked going to Russia."
On the big screens on February 20, comes sharp detective "Red Silk". The action will take viewers to 1927 - in rushing through the whole of Russia train, where under the guise of ordinary passengers hiding foreign spies and thugs hunting for secret documents. The main female role in the project performed Chinese actress Zheng Hanyi. In an interview with Izvestia, she talked about jumping off the cliff with Milos Bikovich, awkward scenes with Gleb Kalyuzhny and moving to Russia.

- Let's start by talking about your heroine Wang Lin. What did you find most interesting about her? Who is she?
- She's growing up, little by little. She's kind because she's always thinking of others. But on the other hand, she's impulsive, so she often gets into difficult situations. I guess I'm a bit impulsive too, otherwise I wouldn't have decided to take a risk and go to Russia.
- You came to Russia as a tourist and already here you decided that you would stay to study?
- Yes, I was just traveling, and then I decided - yes, I will take a risk! Almost four years ago I came to Russia and started learning the language.

- Was it difficult?
- Of course! What's the question? (Sighs.) Of course, difficult!
- And before shooting the movie "Red Silk" did you have to study Russian additionally or was the stock you got at the institute enough?
- Of course not. I knew a lot of words about the movie, but when I first got on the set, I heard: "Ready, set, go!" Not before. I mean, I had heard it, I just didn't know how to use it correctly.

- And with Russian actors who don't know Chinese, how did you communicate on set?
- We had interpreters, so we communicated normally. I didn't really understand some jokes, then I just asked what it meant. The director explained it to me.
- Who taught the Russian actors Chinese?
- The translator. On set, if they forgot something, I could tell them. Sometimes when they spoke Chinese, there was a wrong tone. Of course, something was funny.

- How difficult were the acting tasks that the director put before you?
- This is my debut. It was my first time acting in a movie. So I didn't know anything at all about how it works technically. It was very difficult for me. I had to give the right reaction, to show the depth of the mood.
- Of all the places in Russia that you visited during the filming, what is the most memorable for you?
- First we were in Baikal, then in Pskov, then in Vyborg, then in St. Petersburg, then in Moscow at a very big studio. Everything is very cool there. By the way! I saw the northern lights for the first time in my life (smiles). It was in Vyborg. We shot there only one day. We were just very lucky! And Baikal is just a miracle of nature! And there I froze.

- What was it, -40?
- Yes, the camera just didn't work there, and we had to wait and wait. But I decided a long time ago that I will definitely go to Baikal again. This time, probably in summer, because I saw the photos - it's beautiful! I want to see for myself, to make sure if it's beautiful or not.

- "Red Silk" is a movie about our history together....
- It's not just a historical movie. There are a lot of fight scenes, it's a detective, there's also romance. Gleb Kalyuzhny and I just met, and immediately there was a joint scene, for me a little awkward. But he was very cool, always supported me.
- You performed the stunts yourself. What was more difficult: jumping from a train to another or from a cliff down?
- Jumping off a mountain is the hardest! I used to think I was afraid of heights, but now I realize I can do anything. I thought that if Chinese actors or Milos Bikovich could do it, I could do it. Everyone's watching, the director. They command: "Get ready, let's go! Jump!" - Okay, fuck it!
We shot it, like, eight or ten times. I don't remember. The first time, I wanted to cry. The second time, I lost my heart. The third time, I didn't know where I was, who I was. And then it went well. When they filmed the scene, I didn't feel any pain at all. And after filming, when I returned to the hotel and went to shower, I saw bruises. I also used to not know how to drive a car, but now I can. I learned it during filming. We have a scene where I'm driving.

- Did you enjoy filming? Is it an important experience for you?
- Yes, it's very important for me. I am very happy that my career started in Russia. I thought that after my studies I would probably become a teacher, and suddenly I found something else. It's unexpected! Now I remember that the first year here was so hard. And I even wanted to go back, but it's very good that I didn't give up. Otherwise you wouldn't have seen me today (smiles).
Zheng Hanyi was born on April 7, 2002 in Urumqi, Xinjiang province. After graduating from school in China, she entered the Russian State Institute of Stage Arts on the course of Y.M. Krasovsky. The role of Wang Lin in the film "Red Silk", which will premiere on February 20, 2025, the first work of Zheng Hanya in the cinema. This is a joint project between Russia and China. The plot of Andrei Volgin's retro-detective action film tells about the role of the Soviet Union in the formation of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
