Under investigation brigade: the perpetrators of the AFU strike on a boarding school in Suzha have been revealed

The AFU brigade under the command of Rostyslav Karpusha, which attacked the boarding school in Suzha, has already carried out similar criminal operations, military experts told Izvestiya. It was she who, in April 2022, struck a Tochka-U missile at the train station in Kramatorsk controlled by Ukrainian forces. At least 39 people were killed then and 87 were wounded. The strike on the boarding school in Suja, where more than 100 civilians were hiding, was carried out on February 1. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in this way the Ukrainian authorities tried to divert attention from the crimes of the AFU in Russkoye Porechnoye, where civilians were killed. Since the boarding school is located on the territory still under the control of official Kiev, there is no exact data on casualties among the residents.
Criminal artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukraine's armed forces committed another war crime on February 1 by launching a targeted missile strike on a boarding school in the town of Suja, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The launch of enemy missiles from the Sumy region was detected by Russian air defense equipment.
"This provocation is aimed at distracting world public opinion from the atrocities of the Kiev regime, which were committed in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in the Kursk region," the Russian military ministry stressed.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article on committing a terrorist act, the department's press service said. The case was opened against the commander of the 19th separate missile brigade of the AFU Rostislav Karpusha.
"According to the investigation, on February 1, 2025, Karpusha gave an illegal order to his subordinates to launch a missile attack on the building of a boarding school located in the town of Suja, Sujan district, Kursk region, where there were civilians," the IC indicated.
This is not the first criminal operation of the commander of the 19th missile brigade of the AFU and his subordinates, said the chairman of the board of the all-Russian organization "Officers of Russia" Roman Shkurlatov.
- He is also behind the strikes on Kramatorsk in the spring of 2022. Then his brigade struck the railroad station with a Tochka-U. There were also many dead, and the enemy also tried to blame it on us, but it didn't work," the expert recalled.
Alexander Khinshtein, the deputy governor of Kursk region, in his Telegram channel called the incident "inhuman atrocity of the Kiev regime, for which there is and can be no justification."
"There is no reliable information about the number of casualties yet. In any case, the missile strike on the orphanage, where people could be, is a crime that has no forgiveness and no statute of limitations," the head of the region wrote.
What will be the response to the strike on the boarding school in Suja?
According to experts, Russia's response will be both political and military.
- Political - we will gather the Security Council of the Russian Federation and present all the crimes that the AFU has committed recently in Sujansky district. Military - there will be powerful demonstrative strikes and the Russian Defense Ministry will emphasize that this is the answer for the boarding school in Suja," military expert Viktor Litovkin explained to Izvestia.
He recalled that Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat special forces, had earlier addressed the commandant of Suja with the question of creating a corridor and withdrawing civilians. Tatyana Moskalkova, the Russian human rights ombudsman, addressed the same proposal to her counterpart in Kiev. But these initiatives led to nothing.
- They did not even respond," Viktor Litovkin emphasized. - The AFU specially gathered people who had lost shelter in the orphanage. And the fact that they struck at it means that the enemy realizes that he cannot hold Sudzha. He is losing it, and he has to get out of there. And as they leave, the AFU burn everything to the ground, along with the people.
Roman Shkurlatov believes that this is a special provocation to put the blame on the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - to organize a Bucha-type staging.
- The flywheel of information warfare on the part of the enemy will now gain momentum. Mass photo and video releases will soon follow, because so far everything has been rather sparse," he suggested. - Foreign engaged journalists may even be invited to Sudzha in an attempt to stir up a scandal. The Kiev regime and London behind it obviously need this. They do not want any end to the conflict, because the ongoing war keeps them afloat and in power.
The second motive is to cover up their war crimes in Kursk region, the expert said.
- Unfortunately, there are many local settlements where there are traces of crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Most likely, they took everything to the boarding school and will announce that they were killed, - Roman Shkurlatov replied.
Who is responsible for the attack
From the very beginning, the Ukrainian authorities organized a massive information campaign aimed at discrediting Russia. On the evening of February 1, Vladimir Zelensky posted a video on social networks, on which a man on a stretcher and in a wheelchair can be seen in the dark. In his post, written also in English, he blamed the Russian army for the tragedy in Suja.
The Russian Foreign Ministry immediately said that what had happened was an atrocity and a war crime by the Ukrainian armed forces. The purpose of such provocations is to divert the attention of the world community from the atrocities of the Kiev regime, which were committed in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in Kursk region.
- For almost six months the boarding school remained intact and civilians were kept there under the supervision of the AFU soldiers, who took foreign media there to show their "concern" for Russian civilians. But as our troops approached Suja, the Ukrainian militants needed to cover their tracks. Moreover, this could have become an excuse to divert world attention from the AFU crimes in Russkoye Porechnoye," said Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime.
It is noteworthy that there was no official reaction to Ukraine's actions in Western countries and international organizations. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on all "responsible governments" and specialized international organizations to issue a strong condemnation of Ukraine's crime and publicly distance themselves from the Kiev authorities and their Western curators.
- It is obvious that the blame for this terrorist attack lies with all countries that continue to stubbornly and irresponsibly pump the Kiev regime with arms, thereby contributing to its bloody criminal acts," she said.
It is possible that many EU countries will decide not to publicly criticize the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, said Volodymyr Oliynyk, a former member of the Verkhovna Rada and a member of the international public movement "The Other Ukraine".
- Europe is on Zelensky's side and under the globalists. It professes an exclusive principle once formed by Americans with regard to one Latin American dictator: "He's a son of a bitch, but he's our son of a bitch". They will cover up any atrocities," Oleynik said in a conversation with Izvestia. - They should turn a blind eye to something, but Bucha should be promoted. The most surprising thing is that Russia is always ready to name those who died, but they do not give lists of those who died in Bucha. And the reason is very simple - they brought there a bunch of corpses from various morgues of nearby cities, scattered them around the city and made a cheap staging.
The strikes against civilians have not stopped
The Ukrainian military is not reducing the number of shelling of peaceful cities and towns, actively using the means of NATO countries, the Russian Presidential Human Rights Council (HRC) noted.
Just at the end of January, the Council sent abroad a new compilation of materials with the crimes of the AFU and national battalions against Russian servicemen and civilians, the Council recalled.
The compilation includes evidence of crimes, as well as materials of the International Public Tribunal on the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis 2023-2024.
"Once again we call on you to influence the Ukrainian authorities at the international level in order to stop the blatant violations of human rights", - stated in the accompanying letter of the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, head of the HRC Valery Fadeev.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the enemy lost more than 56770 servicemen during the fighting in the Kursk direction.
As well as 329 tanks, 241 infantry fighting vehicles, 189 armored personnel carriers, 1672 armored fighting vehicles, 1765 vehicles, 398 artillery pieces, 45 multiple rocket launchers (including 13 HIMARS and six MLRS made in the USA), 16 launchers of anti-aircraft missile systems, eight transport and loading vehicles, 106 REB stations, 15 counter-battery radars, 5 air defense radars, 33 units of engineering and other equipment.
