Balitsky said there is no nuclear threat to Zaporizhzhya NPP

All measures to ensure safety at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant have been taken today: the facility's protection is at a high level, which makes it possible to say that there is no nuclear threat at the plant. This became known on November 18 at Vladimir Putin's meeting with Zaporizhzhya Region Governor Yevhen Balitsky. The President noted the success of the region in the social sphere, in the fight against unemployment and in the improvement of agricultural indicators. What objects will appear in the region and what specialists are currently lacking in Zaporizhzhya region - in the material of "Izvestia".
What was discussed at the meeting
Social development of the region was the central topic of the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Yevgeny Balitsky. Today Zaporizhzhya region is actively upgrading its infrastructure: in particular, the construction of one of the most important medical facilities - the regional children's hospital - has already begun. According to Yevhen Balitsky, so far in the liberated part of the region children cannot receive quality medical services, and the new center will help to solve this problem. In addition, six restored schools were opened in Zaporizhzhya region, in total there are already 362 educational facilities in the region. Also, since the beginning of 2024, specialists have built more than 200 km of roads, the Governor added.
In Zaporizhzhya region there is a steady recovery growth of agriculture and industry, the President noted. Last year, according to the governor's estimates, 2.5 million tons of crops were harvested, but now, due to natural conditions and the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, the figures are expected to be lower in 2023. It also became known that the authorities of Zaporizhzhya region in 2024 exceeded the plan for tax collection, which was set by the Russian government.
Vladimir Putin noted the minimum level of unemployment in the region. However, according to Yevhen Balitsky, the lack of qualified specialists in the working sectors is still a problematic issue, as today the region needs to change all communications, including water supply, water drainage and electricity supply. A number of medical and educational facilities have not been renovated at all since the 1970s. "People are coming back, the region is revitalizing. Today we record a number of factors by which we can determine that qualified workers, unfortunately, are still lacking, but the region is growing," said Evgeny Balitsky.
The situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP was also discussed. According to Evgeny Balitsky, Rosatom Corporation and radiation, chemical and biological protection troops (RHBZ) today take all measures to ensure safety at the plant, so the protection of the facility is at a high level. "We could say with confidence, with a high degree of probability, that there is no nuclear threat, and this facility is under control," the governor said.
