Lent is a special time for many believers as they prepare their bodies and minds for the most important Orthodox holiday, Pascha. During this period, many people give up certain foods, spend time in prayer and limit themselves in entertainment. However, the dates of the beginning and end of Lent change every year in accordance with the Orthodox calendar. "Izvestia" tells when Lent will come in 2025.

What is the date of Lent in 2025?

Lent for the Orthodox begins at a different time each year, depending on the date of Easter. The period of restriction usually lasts 40 days.

Lent usually begins on the Monday that follows Forgiveness Sunday. Ritual words of apology and forgiveness are considered an important step before entering the Lenten period.

In 2025, Lent will last from March 3 to April 19.

Days of Great Lent in 2025

It is customary to divide Lent into two periods - Holy Quadricide and Holy Week. In the period of Holy Quaternity a person enters the path to God, tries to approach Him through humility and prayers, repents of sins.

And with the beginning of Holy Week Jesus Christ Himself approaches people through the memory of the last sermons, the Last Supper, Golgotha and finally the miraculous resurrection.

Earlier "Izvestia" told about the meaning and traditions of each day of the Holy Week.
